Shindig At Blackberry Farm
Our annual Shindig in Florence, Alabama, has grown over the past years to become the iconic weekend that encapsulates the Billy Reid vision. It folds the many facets of fashion, music, food, art and revelry into a singular experience. A few weeks ago, we took that experience up the road to Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee, in the Great Smoky Mountains. This was a collaboration that’s been in the works for some time, and it went so well that we’ve already scheduled the next one for November 2018.
Billy and his team organized a fashion show for attendees that was held in the newly completed Wine Tunnel, which the late Sam Beall, proprietor of Blackberry Farm and a good friend of Billy’s, envisioned for the property. The Shindig was the first event to be held in the space and the recently finished Blackberry Mountain property, which officially opens in January of 2018. Once the runway show concluded, guests were ushered to Blackberry Farm's Bramble Hall venue where they enjoyed a concert by Grammy award-winning artist and producer, Dan Auerbach.
James Beard award-winning chef and author Daniel Patterson of the Alta Restaurant Group in the San Francisco Bay area cooked for the group while Winemaker Russell From of Herman Story Wines in Paso Robles walked guests through a tasting of his wines and delivered a glimpse into the labor and love that goes into each bottle.
Blackberry Farm is equally as famous for its excellent cuisine as for the breathtaking views and serene atmosphere that surrounds it, and additional meals by chefs Cassidy Dabney of The Barn and Sarah Steffan of Dogwood, both Blackberry Farm restaurants, were superb.
We held a Billy Reid pop-up shop, and our friend Jen Auerbach of Clary Collection also held a pop-up in the Blackberry Spa.
